Itinerary Overview
We spent 10 days in Israel that we divided in the following way: 5 days in Jerusalem and 5 days in Tel Aviv!
2 very different cities:
-Jerusalem with a strong history. Capital of Israel, it is a city where Muslims, Christians and Jews live together. Also capital of Palestine. A fortified city, all new constructions and heritage restorations are essentially made of limestone called "Jerusalem stone".
- Tel Aviv (Jaffa) is a livelier, younger city, a place to party. A city that looks a little more like the European capitals.
In these two cities, we discovered museums, places full of history and cultural places.
The Israeli food is incredibly varied and tasty! First country where I eat so well every day! A simple and rather vegetarian cuisine.
People are welcoming, the climate is ideal in January despite some showers, it was not too hot! (It can be very hot in summer)
Jerusalem is an incredible city. A very pronounced mix of cultures: a Muslim neighborhood, an Armenian neighborhood, a Christian neighborhood, and a Jewish neighborhood.
We visited the Muslim quarter with a big market full of colors, fruits and vegetables and many souvenirs to buy. We also discovered the fabulous museum of Islamic art! A must do!
We then walked in the Jewish quarter: national museum of Israel and various fabulous parks!
Finally the Christian quarter with the famous Church of the Holy Sepulchre! A sumptuous place where you can go up high to observe the city!
We couldn't miss the famous Wailing Wall, in the Jewish quarter. A sacred place known all over the world where various religions meet. The site is separated in 3 parts (mixed, women and men)
The tradition is the following: to deposit papers containing wishes or prayers in the cracks and crevices of the wall. More than a million notes are deposited each year!
A spectacular place and rich in emotion.
Tel Aviv is a big city with big buildings. It is a more cosmopolitan city and very lively.
We visited the historic district of Jaffa: the oldest part of Tel Aviv where art galleries and stores of local artisans are now located.
We strolled along the waterfront that borders the city! An amazing mix in front of the big white buildings! A promenade called "Tayelet", stretches for 14 kilometers along the Mediterranean coast, from Jaffa to the north of the city. A place for walking but also for sportsmen!
But the main activity of Tel Aviv for us was: the restaurants and the party! We loved discovering different places to devour all kinds of typical dishes: chakchouka, humous, falafels...
The food is really amazing! We were never disappointed, even in the small street kebabs where the window does not necessarily give desire, the food is really fantastic, I will never say it enough!
Tel Aviv is a city to go out and party! There is no lack of dance floors or rooftops animated all night long!
