Itinerary Overview
This trip was intended as our Christmas present, and we were very excited to get to see the scenery and all that we had heard about it. However, it wasn't just the scenery, we were also interested in seeing how culturally they celebrated Christmas.
We arrived at Reykjavik late on the 23rd of December. We enjoyed a traditional Icelandic meat soup served on bread, which was delicious, and it warms us up as it was very cold! The next day, we started our experience very early in the morning. Unfortunately, in winter the days are short, so you do not have a lot of time to explore in the daylight.
Iceland is all that you see in the pictures and more, the starry nights and landscapes make it one of the most beautiful places to visit. The weather can be a problem for some, but it is worth it all to enjoy this place. However, a beautiful and rewarding experience.

Golden Circle Iceland
First experience was the golden circle which is a route that includes three stops. First stop is the Pingvellir National Park which is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. It is a valley laying between the North-American and Eurasian continental plates. The lava fields at pingvellir are pushed apart by tectonic forces, leaving many gorges and fissures. Second stop is the Gullfoss fall, which is the most famous waterfall in Iceland. Third stop, the geysers . Some of them small others bigger. The Strokkur geyser specifically is quite big and erupts every few minutes up to 15 meters high . Overall it is a magical experience!

Jökulsárlón
A day drip to the Jokulsarlon lagoon and Breiðamerkurjökull glacier is a must! Breiðamerkurjökull is a glacier and an active volcano and you can book a trip to go on it. A big vehicle will pick you up , go up on the glacier and from there you can enjoy the view and also explore the ice caves. I have never seen anything more magical in my life! Jokulsarlon lagoon is a lake that is full of icebergs and it progressively gets bigger because of the melting of the glaciers. It has also been a setting for some movies .
