Highs & Lows

Meeting a lot of nice and friendly people (in hostels)

Hostels in big cities

Itinerary Overview

First I arrived in Perth where I stayed in a hostel for one week before I visited my family for two weeks. It was good to go to a hostel first to meet other people.

The beaches at the west coast are a dream! Especially because you can see the sunset over the ocean. I have not seen more of the west coast of Australia but I just heard good things about it! It is more quite and the beaches are more beautiful in total.

In Perth you can party really good and have a great time during night life.

One day I went to the Zoo of Perth which is quite nice... I just felt (and still feel) a bit sorry for all the prisoned animals.

In total: I think Perth is a great place to start your journey at the west coast.

After three weeks in total I flew to Melbourne. It is a beautiful city with many museums, beautiful architecture and full of art. Many people I met, told me that it is their favorite city of Australia. A great thing is that a lot of the museums are free and the public transportation is cheap (for european prices).

When you walk through the streets you will find a lot of street art such as graffiti and see beautiful buildings (a mix of new and old ones).

One day I visited Brighton beach to see the colorful Brighton Bathing Boxes. It was totally worth it and additionally you have a stunning view at Melbourne.

Another great thing about Melbourne are the public parks. You should definitely walk through some of them or just sit there for a day and enjoy the sun!

Next stop: Sydney... my favourite city of Australia!

If you are in Australia you should definitely visit this city!

Sydney is quite famous for the Opera House. I was not such a huge fan of it but I was overwhelmed by the Harbour Bridge (just on the other site).

What I really liked as well is the public boat transport through the canals of Sydney.

One district I liked was Balmain. Maybe you will like it as well...

The most beautiful place I have seen in Australia was Palm Beach! It is less than an hour away from Sydney central (by car/ bus).

A place I loved for shopping or just to stroll through was the  Queen Victoria Building (but it's a bit expensive).

P.S. One sweetness you definitely should try during your time in Australia are Pods!
