Itinerary Overview
Warsaw is a great city to visit for a weekend. There's an international airport that is quite close to the center (you can get to the city center within half an hour by taxi or public transport) and the prices are still quite affordable. There are also plenty of accommodation options to choose from. I'd recommend staying on the left side of Vistula River somewhere close to the center or near a tube station.
To fully enjoy Christmas Decorations I would suggest to start your walk in the Old Town. You can warm up on the ice rink located in the very center of The Old Town and later continue your walk towards Kolumna Zygmunta. You will find there a giant Christmas tree and some Christmas food stalls where you can buy hot beverages, snacks and last minute gifts/souvenirs. I'd suggest to continue walking on Nowy Świat street towards Krakowskie Przedmieście. You will pass next to the President's Palace and The Bristol Hotel. On weekends, you can enjoy wonderful Christmas concerts in front of Bristol Hotel. Once you get to Charles De Gaulle roundabout continue towards Mokotowska Street if you fancy some shopping or something to eat. You will find there plenty of restaurants and cafes.
If you have a bit more time, I'd recommend visiting some of these places:
- Elektrownia Powiśle
- Hala Koszyki
- Browary Warszawskie
- Łazienki Park
- Wilanów Palace
- Żoliborz Neighbourhood
- Old Mokotów District
- Norblin Factory
- Mokotowska Street (lots of nice shops of local brands)
- Warsaw Uprising Museum
- Copernicus Science Center
- POLIN Museum
