2 days in Bologna started off with a walk to the Piazza Maggiore through the Unesco World Heritage Porticoes of Bologna. Then we visited the oldest food market in the center of the city. We grabbed big mortadella sandwiches from the market and drinks from Osteria del Sole. The second day revolved around more exploration of the medieval town and the few surviving strikingly slender two towers. Related: Foodie Trips

3 days in the Italian Dolomites. Stayed in the foothills of the stunning mountain range and on the edge of the Prosecco region. We arrived in the late afternoon after a 4-hour drive from Bologna. On the following day, we went for a scenic drive to an alpine lodge and indulged in a 3-course lunch. In the afternoon we found perhaps the best Italian gelato shop in the world. The second day was a hike attempt but the weather wasn’t kind enough and we abandoned wet and cold. On the final day, we visited a local beer hall and did Prosecco tasting at Ruggeri Vineyard.
