Itinerary Overview
We went on a 8 day trip to Gran Canaria trying to escape from most tourists. We found a beautiful spot in the north west of the island where you could watch the most beautiful sunsets. Then we headed for some day trips to beautiful little villages and ended in the mountain region in a beautiful spot from where we could make some nice trips for hikes.
I would totally recommend to stay close to Puerto de Sardina as it is one of the most calm and beautiful places I have been. Especially on a touristic island like Gran Canaria it is difficult to find a place that is not full of tourists. You definitely want to rent a car for your stay so that you are free to visit whatever places you feel like and the car rental agencies aren't too expensive either.
We went for day trips to Las Palmas and also took some surfing lessons there (be aware that it is surfing close to the coast lines, so that you will fall often in the sand). In the close by town of Galdar you can find nice restaurants and bars.
When you go for road trips in your car you will come by beautiful villages with amazing views (like Mogan) where you can stop for a nice lunch or some tapas.
Beautiful little space with own kitchen and own patio. Really romantic place (maybe a little over the top, haha). Walking distance to nice little town where you can do groceries. And close to Pico de las Nieves where you can do a nice hike.
Also we spent the last two nights of our trip here before we returned back home. The distance to the airport is also really fine.
Would definitely come back here because the nature all around and the beautiful views already on the way to the location are so stunning that we took multiple breaks just to look at the beautiful nature and surroundings.
