Highs & Lows
The drive from Malaga to Sevilla is very nice! You could make a stop in some local towns on the way!
In the summer, Sevilla might be a little too hot and sunny. It’s easy to get sunburns there!
Itinerary Overview
We arrived by plane and got a taxi to the city center. Our hotel was located near the center, which I’d recommend since most activities are located here. A trip to Malaga should always include a visit to the cathedral, the stunning Alcazaba, and the beautiful beach. In four or five days, you should be able to visit the most highlights in Malaga. Moreover, Malaga is a great starting point for a daytrip to Granada: an enchanting and historic city.
After one week, we rented a car to drive to Sevilla. The reason we chose the combination of Malaga and Sevilla is that in my opinion they complement each other really well. Malaga gives more of a city-like vibe, with a beach and musea, whilst Sevilla is the perfect place to just chill in the sun with a copa de sangria, talk with your friends and be in the present moment
Malaga is a vibrant and culturally rich city located in the south of Spain. This coastal city offers a unique blend of traditional Spanish charm and modern amenities, making it a must-visit destination for travelers. One of the city's main attractions is the beautiful beaches, perfect for a relaxing day under the sun. The city also boasts a rich history, with many ancient ruins and historical landmarks scattered throughout. Be sure to visit the Alcazaba, a magnificent palace and fortress that dates back to the 11th century. Foodies will love Malaga's vibrant culinary scene, which includes everything from traditional tapas bars to Michelin-starred restaurants. And for those who enjoy a night out, Malaga has a bustling nightlife with plenty of bars, clubs, and live music venues. Whether you're looking to relax on the beach or explore the city's rich history and culture, Malaga has something for everyone, its sooo great
In Sevilla I spent an afternoon wandering around Barrio Santa Cruz, and it was a highlight of my trip to Sevilla. Barrio Santa Cruz is a neighborhood in the heart of the old city center and is one of the most enchanting places I’ve visited in Spain. I started my visit at the Plaza de la Alianza, a small square lined with tapas bars and souvenir shops. From there, I meandered through the streets with the intricate ironwork balconies, the bright tiles, and the occasional hidden courtyard or garden.
One of my favorite stops was the Casa de Pilatos, a stunning 16th-century palace that combines a lot of different architectural styles. Its gardens, fountains, and stonework make for a breathtaking sight in the middle of the city.
Another must-see in Barrio Santa Cruz is the Cathedral and Giralda Tower, a magnificent cathedral that houses the tomb of Christopher Columbus and boasts stunning views from the top of the bell tower. The entrance fee may seem steep, but it's worth it for sure!!
After all that sightseeing, I was ready for a break, so I headed to one of the neighborhood's many tapas bars for some amazingn food. I ordered a plate of the local specialty, salmorejo (a creamy, chilled tomato soup) and some croquetas (crispy fried balls of ham and cheese). It was the perfect pick-me-up to keep me going for the rest of my explorations!
All in all, my afternoon in Barrio Santa Cruz was a highlight of my visit to Sevilla. If you're looking for a taste of authentic Andalusian charm, history, and culture, this is the place to be. Just be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring a sense of adventure - you never know what hidden gem you'll discover around the next corner!
Q & A
Anything go wrong during the trip?
As stated before, Sevilla is one of the hottest city’s in Europe in the summer. The sun can really be dangerous, so I got heavy sunburns. Don’t forget to stay hydrated and take sunscreen with you if you visit in the summer!Restaurant recommendations?
Malaga: Kraken - Amazing (little bit high-end) tapas. It differs from typical tapas restaurants, but uses mostly the same main ingredients. By far the best restaurant I have been to in Malaga!Tips you would give a friend?
There is a lot to see in both city’s, maybe even too much. I would highly recommend to everyone to also take a day off and just chill out on the beach. We just planned to much sightseeing on our holidays!Transportation Tips?
Try to rent a car if you’d like to visit both cities. If you’d like to do a daytrip to Granada, you should go by bus. The busstation in Malaga is about a 20 minute walk from the city center!Any surprises?
