Highs & Lows
Lost Beach Club - Montañita, a place of electronic music where there are always recognized parties and DJs.
Over the weekend that I was there were a lot of people on the streets and some were very drunk
Itinerary Overview
We arrived in the morning in motañita, we found a camping and we went out to visit the small town full of restaurants, bars, hotels and a lot of artisans art that are on the street and soon we saw the beach that at that moment the Tide was full, there were impressive waves. and on the same day we met some travelers who were living for a few months in motañita who recommended us an apartment that they rented a week that was in front of the sea and the next day we moved to this apartment because there was much more convenience and a good price.
For those who like big waves, there is no better beach in Ecuador. The small town of Montañita is one of the main surfing destinations in South America. It is considered by many specialized sites as the best beach for surfing in Latin America and one of the best in the world.
Montañita is a village with rustic buildings, thatched roofs and permanent sand on the ground, full of restaurants, bars and lodgings, the city of just 1,000 inhabitants is a paradise for surfers and backpackers looking for a more active place.
Enjoy the beaches and surf
Montañita beach is perfect for resting, sunbathing, walking, exercising. You can also rent chairs and umbrellas that are available so you can enjoy reading a book and also ordering a beer, tasty juices.
Famous for having one of the best waves in South America, Montañita is the right destination for surfers looking for fantastic destinations to catch waves. The city is well known for its surfing. on the beach there are some companies that rent surfboards and if you are not a born surfer, there are many high quality surf schools there.
Enjoy the night in Montañita
Make the most of the nightlife of this bustling city. there are several nightclubs, bars, restaurants and parties around the city. There are parties every day of the week, but it is on weekends that the city gets crowded. That's because in addition to tourists from other regions who go there to enjoy the festivals of Montañita. In addition, if you do not want to join a club, you can enjoy the bars on the cocktail street or on the beach. I really liked going to the caña grill which is a restaurant bar with live rock and jazz music that from 23:00 onwards becomes a ballad with reggaeton, pop and electronic music. some people who have lived in this village for some time told me that friday woman enters lost beach club for free.
Where to eat
Montañita has a lot of places to eat, with vegetarian options too. For breakfast we recommend visiting Calle de Los Cocteles as there are several wooden stands serving full breakfasts. there are many restaurants that operate during the day and night serving sea food, barbecue, pizzas, hamburgers, pastas, vegetarian food, chinese food and many more options. there are also some ice cream parlors, coffee shops, bakeries, on the central beach there are many food carts that sell ceviches.
Where to stay
Montañita has many accommodation options, the cheapest ones are in the city center, they are usually the busiest places too. If you want to stay a little further away from the center, north of the city, 5 minutes walking there are good options for hostels, camping, hotels and also apartments that rent by the week and most of them are very close to the beach, but they are a little more expensive , but it is worth it because it is very quiet on that side.

You can travel to Montañita by bus or privately. The cheapest way is by bus and the trip lasts approximately three hours if you take the direct transport provided by the Libertad Peninsular cooperative. Another option is to take a bus to Libertad and then take a bus to Manglaralto and get off at Montañita but this option takes more time.
