Itinerary Overview

AUCKLAND

The first day I arrived in auckland for some reason in my mind I had the idea that the country was going to be extremely cold but for my surprise it has mild weather so it's fabulous walking around the city.

My first stop after leaving my stuff at the hostel was the sky tower which is a very interesting place and what called my attention the most was the fact that they have a comparison of all the tallest towers in the world as well as an attraction called bungie jump which consists in jumping from the top of the tower.

My next activity was visiting a park that is very close to the tower which is auckland domain (according to Google maps since I didn't know the name) and it is a very peaceful place to walk and have a conversation or just admire nature in the middle of the city. Cleaning restrictions are very strict make sure to put the trash in a trash can.

WELLINGTON

I can say that I'm not a museum person since I prefer to explore more exciting activities but taking in count that New Zealand is a very conservative country I decided to visit the main museum which is located in what I think is the city center. The architecture is very modern and full of new Zealand history, their ancestors as well as the vestiges of the war.

After that we spent the afternoon walking around wellington waterfront walk, which is a bay in the border of the city where you will see all the boats that belong to the rich people of the city or the ones that offer guided tours for all the foreigners.

This is the perfect city if you're looking for scaping the routine in your country and having a cup of coffee in a good looking cafeteria since people is very calmed and nice and you'll hardly see a crazy party like in Buenos Aires.

TITAHI BAY BEACH

We decided to go to titahi bay beach because I was told so many times that water in the New Zealand beaches was amazingly clean so we decided to swim a little while and getting to know more about the country.

Even though we visited just big cities I could see several parks which made me feel very comfortable because I love nature and I like to see that these type of countries are taking good care about the nature.

Q & A

  • What would you have changed?

A good place to have a nice party, I don't know if it was because I didn't search that good or because people in New Zealand is too bored.
  • Anything go wrong during the trip?

    No
  • Restaurant recommendations?

We ate our dinner at Sri Penang, it is a malaysian restaurant and the food was delicious but if you're backpacking double-check the prices because it is not a very cheap restaurant
  • Tips you would give a friend?

If you're coming from Latin America save a little more money because even though New Zealand is not considered an astronomically expensive country it is not cheap for us coming from countries with cheaper prices
  • Packing tips?

The basics and a good camera, you will see a lot of stuff that you're not used to see
  • Transportation Tips?

Transportation is very nice, I cannot give an exact idea because we used my friend's car
  • Any surprises?

    How clean is the water
  • Booking details?

I always plan my own trips but I use the apps that offer me the best prices

Lodging

  • i stayed at the hostel "surf N's Snow" which in my opinion was too basic based on my expectations as well as the experiences I had in peru but it was very clean which is something I really appreciate

  • Hotel Waterloo & Backpackers a simple hostel located 1 km away from the city center where I paid around US$12 per night
