Itinerary Overview
What do you have in mind when you hear the word "Japan". Technology? Car companies? Anime? Food? If you are interested in Japanese food, this itinerary will be very useful for you!
In August 2021, I traveled to Tokyo and Osaka, which are two of the largest cities in Japan. I went with my best friend for 7 days. I am Japanese but I am from the country side of Japan, so traveling in Japan felt like being a foreigner. It is as if we did not know anything, because everything feels new and very surprising. In every corner you see there is something new, it is full of colors and many sounds too.
Tokyo and Osaka are 500 km away, but you can get there in 3 hours by train. If you want to save your money, I suggest you take the night bus. Although they are cheap they are very comfortable and efficient, they have a good service and for the time you spend on the journeys is very good.
At first, we visited Shibuya, Tokyo! Shibuya is in the center of Tokyo and is easily accessible. Tokyo is huge and incredibly busy, we went to Shibuya Crossing which is the the most crowded crossing in the world. You must be puzzled. There are a lot of shopping places in Tokyo, so you can find anything you need
We were very hungry so we went for ramen, it was delicious! There are so many ramen shops you will have no trouble finding yours. On the contrary, it is so hard to choose! You can eat ramen for $5-$7 in Japan and if you are a student, there is a student discount. We went to ramen Ya Shima which is the first place in the ramen ranking in Shibuya and I ate shoyu ramen in there. It was very delicious!
*important*
Some ramen shops in Japan don't allow payments by cards, so you should bring cash!
Osaka is located in the west part of the island. It takes about 3 hours to get there by train from Tokyo. Osaka is best known for its amazing casual food and outgoing locals. It is famous for its takoyaki, okonomiyaki, and other snacks, and is undoubtedly the center of Japanese street food. With both retro charm and modern flair, Osaka is a city that has culture and nightlife in Japan.
In Osaka, I recommend for you the Tenma area. There are many local restaurants and unique style areas! All the food in Osaka is so good that it's easy to overeat, but it would be a shame to fill up in just one restaurant! Be careful! We went there and ate very delicious local food. We were drinking during the daytime and changing restaurant one after another. We enjoyed eating several foods and communicating with local people. We were eating all day.
