Oslo Opera House

On Saturday morning we planned a visit at Munch Museum. It's very centrally located and you can combine it with visiting Oslo Opera House and Oslo Public Library. All those places can be visitied in one day and you don't have to buy a ticket to the Munch Museum in advance (it's not very busy).

For lunch I recommend going to Oslo Street Food. It's a food court just a stone's away from the Opera House and the center of the city. There are plenty of options to chose from and everyone will find something to their liking.

For the evening, we planned to see a ballet at Oslo Opera House. We bought tickets 2 months before visiting. I recommend to buy them as soon as you confirm your trip. Tickets sell out pretty fast and it's better to buy it in advance if you want to have good seats.

On Sunday we planned a trip to Kistefos Museum. It's a place about an hour away from Oslo. We got there by car and I think that's the only option to get there (unless you go on an organized tour). Plan your visit on a nice day because a big part of the museum is outside in a park.

If you happen to be in Norway in Spring or Autumn, keep looking up at the sky at night! If the sky if clear, there's a chance to see Northern Lights! We did and it was an amazing experience!

Q & A

  • What would you have changed?

If you have time, I definitely recommend to explore nature in Norway as it is absolutely amazing! Places like Preikestolen, which is a very easy hike (more like a Sunday walk) or Trolltunga.

  • Tips you would give a friend?

If you're planning your trip to Norway in the Aurora season I recommend to download and app called "Aurora". It's very accurate and shows you what's the possibility to see Northern Lights in your location.

  • Packing tips?

Check the weather before packing and prepare for cold and rainy weather even in the middle of the summer. Especially if you decide to visit places north of Oslo.

  • Any surprises?

We were definitely surprised to see Nothern Lights in Norway in September.
