Peru Travel Itinerary 2 Weeks

Lima is a cosmopolitan city, with a very innovative and touristic environment, with great content in every corner.

Upon arrival it can be a little difficult to find a line of cars and traffic from the airport exit that leaves much to think about as the rest of the city, however and after spending some time in the cab, you can understand why the influx of so many tourists to this destination, the mountains and the sea begin to meet and from there completely change the landscape, modern roads and high traffic takes place and you can only relax and enjoy so much beauty.

My first stop, the emblematic Miraflor=-==- neighborhood, there you have many options for your stay, the best option for me was to rent Airbnb for a few days, my host, a local person since the moment I contacted her helped me with all my questions, recommended restaurants in the area and gave me a list of things to do.

For this time of year the climate is very recommended, not too extreme, the humidity is bearable, so this made the days much easier.

Miraflores is a neighborhood that does not sleep, I could always find a plan, restaurant, or bar open.

I was surprised by its modern style, people from all over the world, restaurants of all kinds of profiles and prices.

In general, lima made me feel very comfortable, it feels safe to be in its streets (in the tourist area at least) and people are very friendly.

One of the places they recommended me was Larcomar shopping center, one of the great tourist places in Lima.

LArcomar is a shopping center built on the cliff facing the Pacific Ocean. In it, there are an infinite number of stores, a cinema, a bookstore, and many restaurants with a terrace, as well as a free art gallery (Sala de Arte Moderno SAM) that always offers interesting exhibitions.

At the entrance of Larcomar there is an information kiosk and a bike rental store where you can take a walk along the Costa Verde.

And this is a good plan, it can be done by bike or simply walking, going all along the coast, making some stops in its cafes and parks, appreciating the view and the surfs that can be seen from there.

Another very nice place is  Barranco neighborhood

Located next to Miraflores, is a bohemian and hipster neighborhood. is one of the most interesting tourist places in Lima.

It was an old nautical destination for the rich families of the city, who came to enjoy the sea away from the chaos.

You can still admire the large mansions called casonas, witnesses of the golden age of the region. Today, most of them are either abandoned or have been converted into hotels and restaurants.

The Bridge of Sighs and the Bajada de Baños (a lively pedestrian avenue that descends to the beach) are the great tourist attractions of Lima, and the best spots to take pictures, you can also find several murals of "street art" or urban art.

Speaking of "street art", it must be said that Barranco has the highest concentration of urban art in the capital, with colorful works of Peruvian and foreign artists.

There, a great recommendation of the traditional Peruvian food, the anticuchos is characterized by the use of beef heart and is considered a traditional dish.  

 To get there you can take a night bus from lima, and for this, it is better  to buy the tickets in advance (red bus companies) these buses are super comfortable and you can have a very good night while you arrive at your destination.

The central jungle is a wonderful place, about 8 hours away and passing through all kinds of landscapes you start to see the jungle and its rivers everywhere.

My arrival at San Ramon was due to having a Peruvian friend who lives there ! and it was one of the most beautiful places of my trip.

This place specifically is not very crowded,  most of the tourists are locals so the feeling is different, you can really feel the Peruvian culture.

There the day passed between walks in the jungle, visits to rivers and waterfalls and typical food stops.

The river that crosses this area is called Chanchamayo, It so  big and beautiful, its waters are crystalline, so at any time you can stop to swim and refresh yourself a little.

The people in this area are very friendly and helpful. It is important to try to travel in the dry season as the roads become very dangerous.

In this place, you can also have the possibility to taste exotic fruits of the area, going to the local market is a very good option.

This beautiful city is the central point of archaeological treasures which according to the profile of the traveler can be discovered in a single day tour, or decide to spend more time at each stop.

There you can find many options and companies that have all the information to enjoy the different routes according to the profile

I decided to spend a few days there,have a nice walks in their beautiful roads, enjoy the cocoa stores who bring you the opportunity to know all the process of elaboration, and at night enjoy good pisco sour in a traditional Peruvian bar 

In this place the amount of tourists from all over the world is very high, sometimes can be too much, people selling  massage, tours or just exchange  money. So sometimes you need to be patient and just pass-through 

Cusco has a lot of history, museums, and much valuable information, so a good recommendation is to check the schedules and understand what days offer the best deals in the city, it is worth having this information before reaching the Inca routes that join from there

Another option is to hit the mirador that overlooks the city. There are plenty of signs pointing it out. You’ll walk down a long path and then be greeted by a giant cross and a great view of the city below. This is a perfect place to get your aerial photos of Cusco.

Take your time and bring plenty of water. The elevation here is no joke! Don’t be alarmed if you have to stop often to catch your breath.
