Peruvian and its Wonders

Cusco was one of my favourite destinations in Peru. I remember leaving Arequipa and one of the locals insisting on telling me not to go as he labelled it as a tourist trap. The funny thing is that he was right, it is a tourist trap in terms of how much more expensive the things are compared to less popular destinations in Peru, but I believe that is everywhere!

Cusco is the place you have to go through if you would like to visit Machu Picchu, a truly majestic place,  meaning a very high number of tourists visiting will have to pass or visit the city to see one of the new seven wonders of the world. 

Regardless of it being more expensive you can still make it super affordable if you are on budget, as long as comfort is not a priority.

One of my favourite part was walking around Carmen Alto at night, visiting tiny restaurants with live music. The atmosphere was very soothing with locals very extremely welcoming and polite. 

Whether you are a solo traveler or travel in a group you can easily find things to do that will stay memorable. For solo traveler’s like myself, Cusco was a safe city, with some exceptions but also super sociable as well. I made friends very easily and along them many nice memories that I will  forever hold dear. 

Vichayito, 20 minute drive from Mancora, was my last destination in Peru and it was truly worth both the time needed to get there and the costs that came along it. 

On the map it is located north of Peru separating from the rest of the popular destinations. Flying to Piura and then getting either a bus or a taxi would be the most balanced choice in terms of time and money. The taxi was a 3 hour drive so be mindful that If you do want to visit it the distance from the airport is quite far. 

The flight from Cusco to Piura was relatively cheap but still expensive if you are travelling on budget. Taking the bus is possible but stopping will be required as is too many hours. 

If you are looking for a busy, nightlife beach destination then Mancora will be your choice. It has a plethora of restaurants, bars, shops and activities to engage in. If you want something more quiet and secluded and then head to Vichayito. The connection is not ideal as there almost nothing around unless you drive and that included even restaurants. 

However, waking up every morning and being able to walk to an empty beach with the only sound to be the waves crushing on the shore was one of the most peaceful experiences I have ever had. From day to night it felt like we were living on a private beach resort that only few were allowed in.
