Itinerary Overview
Day 1: Arrival and Immersion in the Vibrant Heart of the City
After our impressive pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago, our path led us to Santiago de Compostela for three days. Upon our arrival, we immediately sensed the pulsating energy in the air, emanating from the diverse crowd of pilgrims and students. The historical center revealed a enchanting blend of medieval charm and lively, modern activity.
Day 2: Culinary Discoveries and Lively Market*
The second day took us on a culinary journey through the city. Restaurants offered a surprising variety of Galician specialties, from savory Pulpo a la Gallega to delicate Tarta de Santiago. The visit to Mercado de Abastos was particularly impressive, where local vendors presented their fresh produce. The colors and scents of the market were a sensory delight.
Day 3: Cultural Treasures and Inspirational Encounters*
On the final day, we explored the city's diverse cultural treasures. The impressive Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, as well as the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea, provided fascinating insights into art and history. Encounters with pilgrims and students brought an inspiring dynamic to our stay.
Overall, our time in Santiago de Compostela was characterized by the unique atmosphere created by the mix of pilgrims and lively students. The diversity of restaurants and the visit to the market were culinary highlights. Undoubtedly, this city is worth a visit even without the Camino de Santiago.

Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela Santiago is not complete without a visit to the Mass in the Cathedral.
The visit to a Mass in the impressive Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela was a truly moving experience during my pilgrimage. The majestic architecture and the soft lighting created an impressive atmosphere of devotion.
As I mingled with the gathered, I could feel the strong sense of community that had come together here. The Mass began with an impressive choir and the solemn sounds of the organ, filling the space with a special aura.
One of the highlights of the Mass was undoubtedly the awe-inspiring Botafumeiro, a massive incense thurible that swung over the congregation, filling the room with a captivating scent. Try to find out beforehand during which Mass it is swung. Unfortunately, it doesn't happen as often anymore, usually only on holidays or when a group of pilgrims pays for it.
For visitors who may not be particularly religious, like myself, the visit is still worthwhile. The Cathedral is a fascinating cultural and historical heritage site that captivates everyone, regardless of religious beliefs.
If you plan to attend the Mass in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, I recommend arriving early to secure a good spot. Even if you don't understand the religious texts, you will still be able to grasp the spiritual depth of the moment.
After the Mass, take a moment to enjoy some quiet reflection. The Cathedral and its surroundings practically invite you to let the experience sink in. This will undoubtedly be one of the unforgettable highlights of your journey.

Fisterra Excursion to the End of the World
After completing the final stage of the Camino de Santiago, we opted for a 3-4 day hike from Santiago de Compostela to our true end of the Camino - Finisterre. The path led us through picturesque villages and along the impressive Galician coast. The view of the endless sea was simply breathtaking.
On the third day, we finally reached Finisterre, the "End of the World". The sight of the sparkling ocean and the solitary lighthouse was unforgettable and highly emotional. We decided to stay for an additional three nights to experience the sunset reflecting in the waves of the Atlantic and to celebrate the end of our journey. It was a moment of peace and reflection that beautifully concluded our pilgrimage.
For the return to Santiago de Compostela, we chose to take the bus, giving us the opportunity to once again savor the spectacular landscape, this time from a different perspective. It was a relaxed journey that provided us with time to contemplate the unforgettable experiences of the past few days.
