Itinerary Overview
We arrived at Milos flying from Barcelona. Once we landed we could feel the fresh air and the sea salt smell everywhere putting a smile on our faces.
As we planned our trip in advance we decided to rent a car because public transport can be limited, so if you also plan to explore some mountain villages and remote locations, however, if you did not have the chance to book it you will find plenty of companies near the small port.
Milos, the island of the most famous Venus of antiquity, is still a paradise untouched by mass tourism, with striking white rocks and a blue sea and is the island of the Cyclades with the greatest number and variety of beaches, all of a beauty worthy of Venus!
Get ready to discover the curious horseshoe shape formed by this volcanic island, also called the island of colours for its rock formation, colours such as blue, emerald green, and the white stone characteristic of the island and different shapes.
We started our journey heading to Kastanas Beach located on the east coast of Milos. Colourful red, orange and yellow rocks surrounded the whole beach due to their volcanic nature and clear turquoise water. Perfect beach for snorkelling as it showcases a wide variety of marine flora and fauna species.
After enjoying a beautiful morning drinking 'glykys vrastos' a Greek coffee variety famous for its flavour and plenty of varieties we packed all our belongings and headed to one of the most famous restaurants in Milos, and for a good reason!
Medusa restaurant is the best restaurant in Milos to try its octopus. An unforgettable experience surrounded by the crystalline waters of the Aegean Sea, listening to the waves and street cats (do not feed them!) Hanging octopuses as a way to dry them out, is a traditional Greek way for a delicious dish. Also, it is a beautiful place to watch a sunset.
Pollonia is a hidden place in Milos, a peaceful and picturesque fisherman's village on the northeast tip of Milos Island, Cyclades, Greece. surrounded by peace and sea. You can find restaurants to eat nearby and relax on its beach. Famous for its tranquillity, it has become a quiet tourist resort.
With its beautiful views of the Aegean sea, traditional tavernas by the waterfront, protected beaches and fishing boats moored by the quay and romantic sunsets.
After visiting the breathtaking village we headed to Milos Sarakiniko beach. This beach is famous for its unique and particular lunar landscape with white rocks. Its numerous caves(famous as legends say some pirates used to hide themselves) that you can freely explore or book a tour if you prefer to make the perfect location to spend all day long with friends and family.
The beach was mostly formed as such due to fossil layering and some volcanic eruptions.
